Sea urchins in Kalamata!

Jerry the sea urchin

Sea urchins are sea creatures that are often found on rocks.

They prefer rocks than the ocean floor because they have tentacles that can stick to rocks. Sea urchins sometimes use their teeth to dig holes in rocks to live in.

Sea urchins eat all kinds of plants and some eat sand and mud, and some people eat them.

The spikes that surround their body are sometimes poisonous and are used for protection. The red Sea urchin can live for 200 years or more.

A regular Sea urchin can live for 24 hours out of salt water. Sea urchins are incredible animals!
