Methoni is a small city in the southwest part of Peloponnese.
In Methoni there is a big fortress.
Walls were made around the castle to keep out intruders.
As I entered the castle I noticed that there was a carved lion with wings on it in the stone. The lion represents St. Mark and the city of Venice, Italy.
In the outer walls of the castle I noticed a lot of arrow -loops. Arrow-loops are slits in walls where people shot their arrows at intruders. In another area of the castle we saw clay pipes that were left from a Turkish bath.
The Turks occupied the castle between the sixteenth and nineteenth century.
When I was walking on a cliff, I saw different types of flowers. I also saw a bunch of bones. In addition, there was a church with a huge bell.
I think it would be fun to live in Methoni.
